How much does tile installation cost in Elk Grove and Sacramento?+
Labor for professional tile installation in the Sacramento area typically runs $5–$15 per square foot, depending on the tile type, pattern complexity, surface prep, and project scope. Natural stone, intricate mosaics, and shower systems sit at the higher end because they demand more cuts and waterproofing work. The most accurate number comes from a free on-site estimate — we measure, look at your subfloor or walls, and give you a firm quote with no surprises.
How long does a bathroom tile remodel take?+
A typical full bathroom tile remodel takes 5–10 working days: demo and prep first, then waterproofing, tile setting, grouting, and sealing. Custom showers with benches and niches, or large-format slab walls, can add a few days. We give you a real timeline before we start and keep you updated daily.
What's better for a shower — porcelain tile or natural stone?+
Porcelain is denser, nearly waterproof, and lower maintenance, which makes it the practical choice for most showers. Natural stone (marble, travertine, quartzite) delivers unmatched beauty but needs periodic sealing and gentler cleaners. Many of our clients combine the two — porcelain for the field, stone for accents and niches — to get the look without the upkeep.
Do you waterproof showers before tiling?+
Always — it's the most important part of the job. We build every shower with a full waterproofing system (Schluter or RedGard membranes) behind the tile, properly sloped pans, and sealed corners. Tile and grout are not waterproof by themselves; the membrane underneath is what protects your walls and framing for decades.
Can you tile over my existing tile or do you have to remove it?+
In most cases we recommend removing the old tile. Tiling over existing tile raises floor height, can trap moisture problems underneath, and often voids waterproofing integrity. Removal lets us inspect and prep the substrate correctly — which is what makes the new installation last.
Quartzite vs. quartz vs. granite — which countertop should I choose?+
Quartzite is natural stone — extremely hard, heat-resistant, with dramatic veining; it needs occasional sealing. Quartz is engineered — consistent color, zero sealing, but less heat-tolerant. Granite is the durable classic with natural variation at a friendly price point. We fabricate and install all three, and our showroom has slabs you can see in person before deciding.
How often does natural stone need to be sealed?+
Most natural stone surfaces should be resealed every 1–3 years depending on the stone and how heavily it's used. Marble and travertine in wet areas need it more often; dense quartzite less. A quick water-drop test tells you: if water darkens the stone instead of beading, it's time. We seal every stone installation before we leave and can advise on the right product for maintenance.
Do you handle small jobs like a backsplash, or only full remodels?+
Both. A single kitchen backsplash gets the same precision as a full master suite — exact cuts around outlets and windows, color-matched grout, clean caulk lines. No job is too small to do right.
